Experience:
Mr. Miller worked as a police officer for nearly ten years
on the San Francisco Peninsula. While attending Empire Collge
School of Law at night, he started a successful legal research
business, providing legal research to over 30 attorneys. He
has practiced law in Sonoma County since 1988. He is a founding
partner of Perry, Johnson, Anderson, Miller & Moskowitz, and was previously a partner
with the firm of Senneff, Kelly, Kimelman & Miller. He is a BV rated attorney
by Martindale-Hubbell (BV: "high to very high... indication of an exemplary
reputation and well established practice habits.") Mr. Miller has tried
over 50 cases to jury verdict, as well as many non-jury trials, binding arbitrations
and administrative hearings ranging from Labor Commissioner to Alcohol Beverage
Control matters. Mr. Miller has an appellate court opinion published (Vahle
v. Barwick (2001) 93 Cal.App.4th 1323). He has also
worked extensively with and through the California Legislature
to amend the Davis-Sterling Act which governs homeowner
associations in California.
Community Involvement:
Mr. Miller has been involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters
of Sonoma County for over 15 years, having been a "big" to a "little" brother
for 2 years with one and nearly 10 years with another, also being on its Board
of Directors and its legal counsel. He has also been active as a Teen Court Judge
through Social Advocates for Youth and the Juvenile Court. He also volunteers
his time to the Sonoma County Superior Court as as Judge Pro Tem for jury trials,
arbitrations and settlement conferences. He also is active with the Redwood Empire
Food Bank, proudly helping Perry, Johnson, Anderson, Miller & Moskowitz, win
its "Food From The Bar" competition among Sonoma County lawyers to
raise money and gather food.
Mr. Miller attended Chabot College, College of San Mateo and Empire College School of Law, graduating cum laude and first in his original class of 1988. Mr. Miller is a member of the American Board of Trial Attorneys (ABOTA). Other memberships have included the Sonoma County Bar Association, Redwood Empire Trial Lawyers Association, California Trial Lawyers Associations, National Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute and American Inns of Court. Mr. Miller is licensed to practice in all California courts, the Federal Northern District of California and its Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
