Burton H. Fohrman
Areas of Practice:
Mr. Fohrman practices in the areas of real
estate, business and
international transactions. Mr. Fohrman has represented US
and foreign corporations on real estate and business transactions
throughout the US, Europe and Asia. Mr. Fohrman was
a partner in two of the world’s largest law firms; at
one firm he was the chair of the general real estate section
on a world wide basis. During his years with those firms Mr.
Fohrman was a resident partner in Los Angeles, London, Hanoi
and Tokyo. In Japan Mr. Fohrman was licensed to practice law
as a foreign lawyer (gaikokuho jimu bengoshi). In 2003
Mr. Fohrman returned to California from Japan and resumed his
California practice.
Representative Clients:
During his legal career Mr. Fohrman has represented a variety
of well known business and government entities including: PepsiCo,
Credit Lyonnais, Sun Microsystems, Trammel Crow Company, The
Republic of Italy, Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec,
the ProLogis Trust, LaSalle Asia Investment Fund and LNR Property
Corp. Mr. Fohrman has also been active in representing
companies and individuals in the wine industry in Napa and
Sonoma Counties.
Experience:
Mr. Fohrman has practiced law since 1964, and he has represented
individuals, corporations, professional organizations and government
entities on a wide variety of transactions. Mr. Fohrman has
provided representation and advice on large scale real estate
developments and financings in the US and foreign countries,
acquisitions, dispositions, exchanges, joint ventures, foreign
investment, leases, cross border transactions and strategic
planning in connection with such matters.
Education and Memberships:
Mr. Fohrman received a bachelor’s degree in 1960 from
the University of Southern California and a Juris Doctor degree
in 1963 from the University of California, Los Angeles.
